Hagazussa

A chilling, atmospheric tale of superstition and madness set against the bucolic landscape of the Austrian alps in the 15th century. It focuses on two generations of mother and daughter, living secluded lives as goatherds in a small hut up in the mountains. Struggling through rudimentary living conditions, their sacrilegious reputation among locals, and the sense of an ancient evil surrounding them from the wilderness – they are gradually plunged, one at a time, into a hallucinatory whirlpool of magic and death.  

Somewhere in between The Witch and Repulsion, Hagazussa it is a haunting feature film debut, most certain to appease those craving for a healthy dose of German Gothic and unrelenting psychological horror.

Lukas Feigelfeld is a director and editor currently based in Berlin. His work focuses mainly on narrative cinema, but also ranges from video art and music videos to commercial projects. Born in Vienna, Austria, he studied photography and audio-visual media at Graphische and graduated with excellency at the age of 19. After studying one semester of philosophy and art history at the University of Vienna, he was drawn to Berlin, where he entered the Berlin German Film and Television Academy in 2007.

In 2010, Feigelfeld teamed up with the cinematographer Mariel Baqueiro to found the production office Retina Fabrik, and in 2016 he graduated from the filmacademy as a director with his 1st feature film Hagazussa.
