How To Be Alone

USA  | 2018  | 13 minutes  | Director: Kate Trefry

How To Be Alone follows LUCY, as she struggles to survive an increasing bizarre and horrifying night. When her husband JACK leaves for the hospital graveyard shift, Lucy is left alone in the company of a particularly menacing kitchen cabinet, which she is convinced contains all her most secret fears. As the phobias begin to manifest and attack her, she must fight for control of her mind, and ultimately her life.

Born in Anchorage Alaska, Kate Trefry is a graduate from NYU. Her feature scripts PURE O and REVOLVER both made their respective year’s annual Black List for Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays, the latter has Chernin producing with Andrew Stanton (WALL-E) attached to direct. She currently writes on the Netflix series STRANGER THINGS, and loves animals and babies, despite the content of this short. HOW TO BE ALONE is her directorial debut.
