The Iron Giant

Based on a children’s book by Ted Hughes, the film is set in during the Cold War, when an object from space crashes in the ocean and then go for the forest near the town of Rockwell. 9-year-old Hogarth Hughes investigates and finds a giant robot trying to eat the transmission lines of an electrical substation. Hogarth eventually befriends the Giant, finding it docile and curious.

After an acident takes place with the robot and a train, a paranoid U.S. government agent named Kent Mansley suspects Hogarth's involvement after talking to him. So the boy needs hide the gigant robot existence while the agent rents a room in their house to keep watch on him. A friendship between the boy and the robot start to grown even more.

The animation completes its 20th release anniversary in 2019.

 

Brad Bird directed his first animated feature film, The Iron Giant, in 1999. Although it fared poorly at the box office, it came to be regarded as a modern animated classic. He rejoined John Lasseter at Pixar in 2000, where he developed his second animated film, The Incredibles (2004). He directed his third film, Ratatouille, in 2007. Both films place among Pixar's highest-grossing features and gave Bird two Academy Award for Best Animated Feature wins and Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay nominations.
