the Director

Born in Matão - a small inland town of São Paulo, Brazil - Leon Barbero is an emerging film director, screenwriter, and select member of the prestigious "Projeto Paradiso" talent network.

His horror feature in-development, "Genesis," was selected for the Torino Film Lab Madrid 2021 and established him as a semi-finalist for FRAPA 2020, the largest screenplay contest in Latin America.

His directorial debut, the short film "Babelon," was selected by some of Brazil's most esteemed film festivals. His second short film, the horror "Through the Uncanny Valley," is set to release in 2024.

Before embarking on his journey in fiction cinema, Leon co-founded a video production company dedicated to advertising and institutional content for TV and the Internet, where he took on the roles of Director, Producer, and Editor. His directorial portfolio also includes leading the multicam recordings of operas and ballets at the Municipal Theater of São Paulo and concerts at the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra.

As a screenwriter, Leon has been a finalist for the ROTA screenplay contest on four different occasions with the projects "God Doesn't Give Wings to Snakes" (currently in pre-production) and "Crimson King" in 2019, "Delay" in 2021, and "Pedro" in 2022."
